Works in Progress Module:
Welcome to my works in progress... This section is going to contain the
images and reference material on the projects
I currently have open. Some of these projects are still on the construction table
while others have been shelved for a later date.

| The United States Capitol . . . |
|
 |
<=
The detail work in this model was an ambitious undertaking for the level of modeling experience I had at the time.
This model has almost 700,00 polygons and over a million points. |
=>
My attempt at building this model to scale, is working out great I am keeping
somewhat to the course. Tho after 911, I doubt that I will be able to get accurate
measurements on the U.S. Capitol . . . . . . . . ya think! |
|
 |
The U.S. Capitol was a daunting model I started
back in 2001. The majority of design information I got from The
Architect of the Capitol website, it turned out to be a good reference point
for modeling this building, but it wasn't as definitive as I would have liked.
The rest of the information I gleaned from other sources giving me a broader range
of perspectives.You should also consider this when searching for design info on
any of your projects; get as much info from as many different sources as possible,
this way you are not limited to a single viewpoint.
Modeling the Capitol Building went along as planned until I ran into
the Pediment designs over the 3 main Houses of the capitol.
Apotheosis
of Democracy, Genius
of America, and Progress
of Civilization. It was at that point I ran away polygons between my legs
and closed the program. I shelved that project and went on to other ventures ideas.
Well needless to say I have enough "Skill" now to go back in and model
those pediments from scratch but... my taste buds these days are for other things.
however I do promise to one day, finish this model and put it up for Lightwavers
to download. |

The F4U-A1 Corsair...
What can I say about this plane, there are tons of them in the modeling world,
but this one is mine. |
=>
The Corsair was made famous in WWII by a lot of brave Marines and Navy pilots
in the Pacific.
|
|
 |
I have been in awe about this plane since the
days of the
Blacksheep Squadron television series in the 70's, this plane was just crying
out to be built be me. This model also was built to scale... I got in touch with
the original builders of the plane in the 40's Chance-
Vought and asked them if they had any blue-prints on the plane available.
A few weeks later a package showed up at my door with more than enough info for
me to put this model together properly. I would like to that the
Chance-Vought folks and Craig Mcburnie of
Bootstraps Aircraft for coming through with diagrams and prints which made
it possible for me to build this plane.

This base image is usually how I start out a design. Armed with a basic idea and
a few basic polygons, I lay in a scene and go from there. |
=>
It took a little over a moth to get the scene to this point, most of what you
see is trial and error. Most of the error was trying to keep perspective with
the varying sizes and distances of all the items involved.
|
|
 |
The idea for this scene came straight from
Lord
of the Rings. And as you can see from my other images I am not one to stay
strick to the ideas from whence I get my inspiration... so why should this be
any different...?
Naturally from looking at this image you can see it has nothing to
do with Lord of the Rings other than a Dome in a courtyard... So with that being
said, I expect this scene to be my largest project to date, with a completion
date in 2005... see ya then

| Nu Battlestar Galactica . . . |
 |
<=
The Nu Battlestar Galactica Measures almost 4500 ft, thats just short of a mile
long. The Battlestar has two FTL drives, four sublight engines, and eight maneuvering
thrusters. |
|
=>
The Galactica has a crew of almost 2,000, including pilot, deck hands maintanence
and marines. The Ship has two fighter squadrons, each squadron has 20 Vipers and
one Raptor. |
|
 |
The re-imagined design of the Battlestar
Galactica is something that I am appreciating more and more as I build the model.
It has taken me over 3 months to build what you see here. Most of the time so
far has been spent putting together the details on the tail section. The Production
Model of the Nu Battlestar Galactica has over 7 million polygons to it's credit.
4 million polys on the tail section 1 milion polys on the head section and another
2 million scatered throughout the rest of the ship. The production model was made
by a group of modelers, a few of which I know, so to build this ship as a solo
project is really an undertaking. I can't give a date when the ship will be finished
but it is a project that I am on constantly. I will finish the model sometime
before Christmas 2005, of this i am sure, but as of today I still have a long
way to go.

|
 |
<=
My plan for the construction of the model is to make basic spline objects of the
entire ship then lay in th details and fine tune the mesh as needed. By leaving
the model in sub-patch mode I can make adjustments on the major parts of the ship
with out slowing me down on the building time frame. |
=>
the image to th left is the most complete section to date, I can't waite to see her all done up.
